Serious collision between a construction vehicle and a bakkie, Pinetown

Just after 10am this morning ALS Paramedics responded to a serious Crash on Otto Volek Road near Blair Road in Pinetown. Paramedics arrived on the scene to find the badly damaged vehicles in the roadway.
Paramedics assessed the scene and found that three patients from both vehicles had sustained moderate injuries. The bakkie driver was found entrapped in the wreckage and the Ethekweni Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to cut the man free.
Once freed the patient was carefully extricated from the wreckage. All three patients once stabilized on the scene were transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required.
At this stage the events leading up to the crash is unknown however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.

The father and son have passed away. Paramedics are treating the mother.
They were attacked while waiting for their car to be repaired, after it broke down in the area.
Police are searching for the gunmen.
