Late on Tuesday morning, IPSS Medical Rescue responded to reports of a house fire in the Tongaat area, with the occupants still trapped inside.
Paramedics arrived to find three injured occupants had been pulled from the fire, with the fourth occupant, sadly being declared deceased on scene.
One woman sustained critical injuries, and IPSS Medical Rescue Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise her on scene, having to intubate and place her on a ventilator.
Two further patients, a father and son, sustained serious injuries in the fire.
All patients were transported by IPSS Medical Rescue to an appropriate facility for the further care they required.
The fire was extinguished by the Ethekweni Fire Department, and a thank you to the local community, who risked their safety in order to save the occupants and call for help.
Our condolences go out to the friends and family of the deceased.
