Hit & Run Driver Arrested: Verulam - KZN

A driver who fled the scene of an accident which resulted in the death of a pedestrian has been arrested.
A Plumber walking home after work was killed after he was run over on the M27 in the vicinity of Waterloo - KZN yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon. The vehicle involved in the accident fled the scene. Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) located a grill belonging to a Nissan and a registration plate at the scene.
At approximately 22:29 yesterday afternoon, the RUSA Operations Centre received a tip off that a champagne Nissan X Trail with damages to the front was seen turning into a housing complex in Hammonds Farm near Waterloo - KZN.
Reaction Officers set out in search and recovered the vehicle. The grill was missing and the rear number plate was also removed. Officers made enquiries and established that the owner resided in the nearby vicinity. RUSA Members proceeded to his residence and met with his wife who stated that her husband fled after parking the vehicle.
The man was arrested after he handed himself over to the Verulam SAPS this morning (Wednesday).
