A tragic single-vehicle crash occurred on Wednesday evening along the N2 Northbound, just after Umhloti, leaving one person dead and five others critically injured.
KZN VIP Medics, alongside other emergency services, arrived on the scene to find multiple occupants ejected from the vehicle, all suffering serious injuries. Despite challenging weather conditions, medics and emergency teams worked tirelessly to stabilize the patients. Sadly, one individual was declared deceased at the scene, while the remaining victims were transported to various hospitals for urgent medical care.
In light of the incident, KZN VIP Medics urge motorists to exercise extreme caution when approaching emergency scenes. Despite the presence of emergency lights and medics working on the roadway, many vehicles continued to travel at high speeds, creating a risk to the lives of those assisting on the scene. Medics expressed concerns for their safety, citing recent incidents in which vehicles collided with emergency responders.
"We would like to extend our gratitude to all the emergency services and medics who responded swiftly and displayed excellent scene management under difficult circumstances."
We also ask the public to remain vigilant and drive with care, ensuring the safety of everyone on the road, especially during emergency situations.
