Vumacam technology helps to identify a cloned vehicle

Vumacam’s SafeCity Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) technology identified a cloned vehicle, even though the original had been scrapped following an accident.
Following the alert, the #JMPD CCTV unit was dispatched and intercepted the vehicle in Johannesburg CBD.
Further investigation suggested that the vehicle had been illegally re-registered and transferred without the original owner’s knowledge.
The vehicle was booked at SAPS for further investigation.
