A taxi boss was seriously injured after he overturned his vehicle during a shooting incident in Emona

The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Tongaat Operations Centre received a call for assistance from residents requesting assistance.

Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched and arrived on the scene and a silver Toyota Fortuner was discovered lying in its side. 

According to residents, two unknown vehicles overtook the Toyota Fortuner that was travelling on an unpaved road.

The occupants of both vehicles opened fire on the SUV. The taxi boss swerved off the road.

His vehicle travelled down an embankment before it overturned.

The injured male was transported privately to hospital prior to the arrival of Reaction Officers.

The number of times he was shot could not be confirmed. 

The motive for the shooting was not immediately known.
