Fatal accident near Polokwane resulted in major congestions on the R101 as the N1 was closed for at least 3 hours this morning.
On N1- 26 after Shell ultra city next to Eerstegoud bridge the driver of a VW sedan lost control and collided head-on with a SAPS Toyota ldv R. The driver & passenger of the SAPS ldv sustained slight injuries.
The driver and female passenger aged 35 & 40 yrs is deceased.
One passenger sustained very serious injuries.

Midlands EMS K9 Unit, along with Midlands EMS Advanced Life Support paramedics and crews, were dispatched to the N3 northbound at Tweedie for a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle.
On arrival, it was found that the pedestrian had sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased on scene.
