Six arrested after hijacking a courier truck
08 July 2015 | Road Safety in the Media
Six suspects aged between 23 and 50 years were arrested this morning after a hijacking of a courier truck.
It is alleged that the van was delivering cigarretes at Noord street this morning when the driver was held at gunpoint. The suspects then drove off with the van to Yeoville next to the water tower where they offloaded and reloaded the shipment onto two other vehicles and fled. Police pounced on the suspects as they were offloading the cigarettes.
Five suspects were arrested on the scene and the sixth was arrested at a nearby house. The suspects will appear in court soon on charges of hijacking, armed robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
