Roads close for cycle race

Johannesburg - Several roads in Germiston have been closed to traffic due to a cycling challenge in the area, Ekurhuleni metro police said on Sunday.

Inspector Jimmy Maboko said the roads, which have been closed from 06:00 will only be open to traffic around lunch time.

"The Tri-Athlone bicycle race is under way and we advice motorists to exercise caution and co-operate with traffic officials directing traffic in the area," he said.

Affected roads included Refinery road between Power and Parkhill roads.

Maboko said the entire Power road was also closed to traffic from the Rand airport up until Alberton road.
